i'm driving through tropical central coast with my friend lilly who is looking for two beaches, one is called copacabana which i can't pronounce, instead i say cococabana or coco -banana, it's just a brain glitch, can't fucking say it so she starts explaining it's 'cope' as in can't cope.
i say, cope, as in julian cope and proceed to tell her a story steve once told me, probably my favourite steve kilbey story ever and it involves julian cope when first meeting steve asking, 'what does it all mean steven?'
steve say's in his soft warm voice, 'what does what, all mean, julian.'
julian replies, 'everything'
so when we found copacabana i decided to name it julien's beach in honour of julian cope.
strangely the other beach we were looking for was called mc masters beach so i named that steve kilbey beach as the two beaches were attached by a little strip of land to form one long beach.
both fantastic beaches so i hope they don't mind.
anyways, as usual coincidences abound, when i returned home someone had posted a julian cope video on facebook, that's life in the post 2012 world of new connections, new ways of language and communication, travel by thought, that's how it has to be.
