i enjoyed listening to 'sometime anywhere' today, particularly one song 'lost my touch' which is a genuine masterpiece, i think there are a few masterpieces on this album. i say this not lightly for it is quite an awesome piece of music. in fact so moved was i, i took up my lap top and wrote a review for the 'drums and bells' blog i sometimes contribute to.

it is a great blog, dedicated to the songs of the most important band on earth, 'the church' for me the only band that really matters. i know that the universe loves steve kilbey, she told me this when i was blowing my mind on shamanic medicines, it was quite an interesting conversation as i recall.

picture me laying in a garden laughing hysterically and i looked up at the dawn skies and treetops, i felt absolutely amazing, can't even begin to describe it.
the universe says, 'i love you captain mission, i've fixed you up and your in my loving hands now.'
'yeah i feel fucking better than i ever have before miss universe, thank you, i love you to, i never realised you were this sexy.'
'can you do something for me later?'
'yeah, i'm all yours now sister.'
'tell steve kilbey i love him.'
'no problem, but you should tell him yourself.'
'i work in mysterious ways mission, trust me on this.'
'i always knew i'd marry a church fan.'
'tell him his singularity is coming soon.'
'oh that sounds very cool.'
'she's one of my best.'

i actually love sometime anywhere, i know a lot of church people don't quite seem as comfortable with this album as it's basically marty and steve, but for me 'sometime anywhere' was a feast. i think i was in avalon when i picked it up by chance, i didn't even know it was out, it just slipped into john stones cd and photographic store and it was love at first sight, great cover plus a bonus disc. i took it home and played it non stop for about two months, i listened to it over and over and each song was a treasure chest. years later i played it to a russian girl i was dating and she demanded i play all the music from the church to her chronologically, later she said it was like listening to the stars and i knew exactly what she meant. i could have married her then and there but she had other things in store for me.
so, if their songs are stars then 'lost my touch' is like the space they sit in, it's really not a song at all...
