your body is relaxed and therefore your mind also falls into a state of grace, tension dissipates and floats down river, you are in the company of a beautiful woman, some one you love and respect, she assimilates into the new environment, she has wisdom and knows what to do, she has me and she has you.
i swim the pool, up and down through the streets of love town, the water clear and the air fresh and blue, captain mission is happy. this don't happen very often.
i've purged the darkness from my soul, i've healed something that wounded me in a deep and terrible way, it all feels good to have that released.
we are walking along a beach, it's endless, the locals pursue us with their trinkets and wares, we feel the burning sun on our heads, on the souls of our feet. we discover soft places, spanish influenced, drink fruit drinks and gaze at the landscape. we continue the walk onwards towards some exclusive bar restaurant where people go to look glam and lounge around with beautiful bodies, we have a pit stop there because you are tired and need to rest those feet.
on return i see a figure that i recognise, she recognises me, looks in astonishment, it's an old friend and her husband on holiday. we wander along for a while with them. it's nice, relaxed, just stress free. they tell us about a place to snorkel.
in the evening miss cupcake takes me to the perfect place, on the beach, a fish restaurant where we sit and watch the sun sink, leaving a trail of pink, lilac and orange streaks across a washed out pastel sky. a giant fish leaps out the water, miss cupcake sees it, i see the huge splash. everything is perfect, the waiter is called mr. crab. he asks if we are on our honeymoon.
'second honey moon.' i reply.
'third,' cupcake says.
'how long have you been married?' the waiter asks bemused.
'we are not married, she's the one that got away.' i say
he laughs, if you wish i think you will be married to one another.
'yes i will start praying.'
'you look good together.'
'yes but her husband arrives tomorrow.'
we laugh.
i have eaten, the sun has set, we have been observers to perfection, i love being here, in this moment and secretly don't want it to end. for me it never will but as i think that we jump into our drivers cab and are whisked back to the crowds, night shopping.
later at night i lay down, i close my eyes and for the first time in many years just fall asleep.
