nicole 1
we met under strange circumstances, actually they were perfect circumstances, the church playing down at the sands hotel, actually it was steve and marty, acoustic. i went alone but towards the end of the gig you grabbed me, pulled me out of there and to the beach where i drew a magick circle and we invoked pan.
i asked you why you grabbed me and you said, i was the most interesting person there. ha i laughed, we were probably the only europeans there.
later you asked if i would come to fraiser island with you, we were quite the couple. i remember driving over the dunes and along that beach, endless sand rolling out, hypnotic visions, we listened to a song called fable and one called children, but i can't recall who sang it. we camped out in the bush, and in the morning we drove over the dirt trail, four wheel driving through a track that was treacherous and wild, there were moments where you grabbed my arm as i navigated the terrain. but then towards the last stretch the vehicle rolled into a massive chasm and the fender dented on a rock, you started freaking out.
we stopped in a town beginning with b, an old mining town, the rooms we rented were nice but the hotelier was a bit freaky, a serial killer or animal torturer.
we headed back to sydney and our lives.
a few years later i met you in london, you were married to a gay guy and we explored our past, i had dinner with you and gave you my history, we became better friends.
years later you went to new zealand where you made a home with your son, jakob. we speak on the phone occasionally but i found myself unable to recognise the man you once knew. i don't think we came close to love niccole but it was a good memory and a nice time. i think i was someone else then and i can't ever be that person again but when ever i think about the church i think off that night. i think they would have liked us playing on the beach invoking spirits. i wrote a story about it once, i'll see if i can find it.
